On Oct. 20-22, 2022, Rice welcomed alumni, students, faculty, staff, delegates, partners and friends from around the world to inaugurate Reginald DesRoches as the eighth president in the university’s 110-year history. In addition to the formal investiture ceremony, the three-day celebration highlighted a series of community-building activities, including a formal gala, a faculty dinner, alumni-hosted celebrations, receptions with students and staff, keynote lectures and a commissioned sound and light show. The university is grateful to the inauguration committee for planning and executing the weekend, with special thanks to Co-chairs Gloria Tarpley ’81 and Elle Anderson ’00, Chief Marshal Fred Oswald, and Chair of the Rice Board of Trustees Robert T. Ladd ’78.
